~ "Jesus lived the life I should have lived, died the death I should have died, so I could have what he has..." Joe Coffey
I don't know if I have ever heard the Gospel expressed so beautifully.. so powerful ♥
~ "Jesus says: ‘I have come to stand in your place. To be your substitute. To give you My righteousness, and take your sin.'" Joe Coffey
~ Blanket statements and assumptions are convincing when they sound syrupy and holy.. but the reality is that there is usually always an exception.. whether divorce or shaking the dust off your feet against someone or hanging out with drunkards and whores.. be careful how you judge someone else's life.. I guarantee you don't know the whole story or both sides to it..
~ I heard someone, a respected someone, make the statement during a Bible study that "you haven't really forgiven someone unless you treat them as though they have never sinned against you to the point of allowing them into your life to commit the same offense again." That's a gross exaggeration of Scripture and Forgiveness but it sounds so holy and ppl actually embrace it. But if some guy raped my daughter, I'll be damned before I let him walk her to her car again on a dark night. The God I know would call that wisdom, not unforgiveness.
~ I believe in love and kindness and forgiveness to the point of seeming foolish.. but I don't believe in foolishness passed off as holiness... God would have us use wisdom coupled with love and kindness and forgiveness. Blanket statements have caused so much damage to the church.. scoffers use them as contradictions of our faith.. but the true Word of God coupled with the discernment of his Holy Spirit has no contradiction. The error is ours not God. We simply quote ppl so much and fail to truly study what Christ actually taught.
